As you may already know, you’ll be moving into a college dorm and you’ll need to pack adequately. For this, you’ll want to include bedding for a twin bed such as bedsheets, comforters, pillows with their pillowcases, a mattress wrap, and throw blankets. Additionally, you may want to include earplugs in case you’re assigned to a noisy dorm or with a snoring roommate, and storage bins that can fit under your bed so you can keep your stuff tucked away.

You’ll also want to pack paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, towels with your name on them, and shower shoes so you can use them in the communal shower if any. If you have an air purifier, it would be a good idea to pack it along with a spare large HEPA filter and cleaning products to keep your dorm from getting musty and smelly.

Personal Care

Next, you’re going to want to pack your personal toiletries such as soap or shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, deodorants, loofah, and hairbrush or comb. You’ll also want to pack your toothbrush and toothpaste, mouthwash, dental floss, and shaving kit. Make sure to include your makeup, lotions, Q-tips, and cotton swabs. Also, pack your nail clippers, mirror, air freshener, heating pads, and prescription drugs if you use them.

Clothing

When it comes to your clothes, keep in mind you won’t have a luxurious closet or drawer space like you do at home, so be mindful of the number of clothes you bring with you. This includes shirts, pants, undergarments, pajamas, bathrobes, socks, and scarves. You also have to consider the space for your shoes, sandals, boots, coats, and swimwear. You may also want to add your sunglasses, watches, ironing board, and laundry basket, among other essential things.

School Supplies

Your school supplies may be one of the more obvious things you’re going to need to move to your dorm, but it’s worth mentioning. These things include your backpack, laptop, planner, binder, and stationery. Additionally, you’re going to benefit from having your own desk storage and printer in your own dorm, so you don’t have to go to the library and pay for paper copies of your printed assignments. You can also include your earphones or headsets so you can jam out in between classes rather than stare at the floor.

Miscellaneous

Lastly, you’ll want to add to your packing list decoration for your dorm, a fan, bedside table, desk chair, a TV, and gaming console. Likewise, you’re going to need to fuel up in the kitchen so be sure to pack groceries, a microwave, kitchenware, utensils, dish soap, silverware, and any other thing you deem necessary for your health and nutrition.
